The news has now reported Virginia Tech shooter, Cho Seung-Hui, sent a package to NBC after the first two murders and before he went across campus to murder 30 more. The coverage has been extensive. They are probing everything and everyone that is involved with this incident. However, there is one question that I haven't heard in the mainstream media, "What is media's role in all of this." It is interesting to me that Cho chose NBC as the media outlet to spew his hatred. I'm sure Cho knew he'd find NBC more than happy to pass his message on.
Cho rants about the hedonistic culture of rich brats. The depravity of culture.
Cho: "You had everything you wanted. Your Mercedes wasn’t enough, you brats. Your golden necklaces weren’t enough, you snobs. Your trust fund wasn’t enough. Your vodka and Cognac weren’t enough. All your debaucheries weren’t enough. Those weren’t enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."
One thing is certain, if he watches mainstream media coverage and network television programming, that is all he would see.
We should ask why NBC? NBC is most likely his news source of choice. No wonder he feels society is falling apart. Have you watched NBC? A blame America network on the grandest scale. We are bombarded with bad news, and the left’s socialists agendas that are a constant attack on capitalism and personal achievement. We are slammed day and night by the left that we are raping the world, we are a greedy society, large corporations make too much money on the back of the little people, those who are successful are bad and don’t care about helping others.
And to make matters worse, the networks are now showing this murderer’s rants and photos non-stop, over and over. Now, there is the debauchery! I’m sure they are all happy that they will have great ratings from this. And other psychopaths across the country are getting to see exactly how to go about getting your crazy rants published. If this puke lived maybe they could give him a book deal.
Media outlets will tell us they have a duty to report the news, even if it is unpleasant.
NBC said the material was aired because it helped to answer the question of why Cho killed 32 people and himself.
This story could be told without giving a killer a platform from which speak. Giving this type of weight to a killer can only place us in danger of having someone else repeat these actions, knowing it is a way to get one’s message across.
Further, the news media is scrambling to make even the killer a victim. Mark my words, it is just days away from hearing how they system failed him, how he was mistreated by his peers, etc. If I lived the rest of my days without hearing his problems, it will be too soon. His actions are inexcusable, and only he is responsible for them.
